Is there a more accurate method for estimating Celsius temperature from Fahrenheit scale than simply converting it using the formula of dividing by 1.8?

While converting between Celsius and Fahrenheit using the formula of dividing by 1.8 and adding or subtracting a constant may be sufficient for many everyday purposes, there isn't a fundamentally more accurate method for converting between the two scales because they are based on different reference points and intervals.

However, if you need more precise conversions for scientific or engineering purposes, you can use the exact conversion formula, which takes into account the freezing and boiling points of water in both Celsius and Fahrenheit scales:

  1. To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit: Fahrenheit = (Celsius × 9/5) + 32

  2. To convert Fahrenheit to Celsius: Celsius = (Fahrenheit - 32) × 5/9

These formulas are exact and provide accurate conversions between the two temperature scales. However, for many practical purposes, the simpler approximation of dividing by 1.8 and adjusting by a constant is often precise enough.
